This classic series was sold at ballparks and at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown starting in 1950. The cards feature expert level drawings by famed artist Mario DeMarco. The name comes from the publisher, B.E. Callahan of Chicago, who is also responsible for "Who's Who in Baseball." Cards measure 1.75x2.5" and are the versions with the "1950" copyright and appear mostly EX-MT to NRMT.
In addition to this high-grade complete set of the original 61 subjects, they come in their original card board box (has wear and creases).
It is not easy to find these fragile, seventy year-old cards in Near Mint or better condition. This offering is a great start to gathering a genuine vintage set that contains many of the greatest players in baseball history. Condition breakdown is 20% EX; 40% EX-MT; 40% NM.
