The Iron Horse made two excursions to the Land of the Rising Sun to spread the gospel of baseball - in 1931 and 1934 - and this Christmas card was among the legendary slugger's purchases while engaged in those historic barnstorming tours. They survived via a close friend of Gehrig's mother, Christina, upon her passing. Small woodcut prints adorn the exterior and interior of each card, with printed text inside each reading, "Seasons Greetings from Japan, Lou Gehrig." Comes with original envelope. No handwriting appears on the card but it survives in marvelous condition.
