Whimsical 1950's "I'll Be A Mickey Mantle" Sporting News Original Art by Leo O'Melia. O'Mzelia is famous for being the artist of the covers of Action Comics #2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. He also adapted Sherlock Holmes and Fu Manchu into comic strips. In the 1940's, he became the main illustrator and cartoonist for the NY Daily News. This example titled "Lil' Leaguers" measures 13" in height by 10 1/2" wide. It has some pencil notations throughout as well as his famed lion symbol on the bottom of the drawing. It has a fantastic drawing of Casey at the Bat on the reverse. It is in overall very good condition.
