Marvelous period hockey sweater is undoubtedly the Harvard Crimson (yes it's in crimson), It has been definitively identified with a published team photo in the 1915 Harvard Freshman Red Book (not included with the lot). It is highly likely that exact sweater is being worn there! Not only that but it has the highly unusual benefit of being definitively hockey just by looking at it as it sports "HT" lettering for "Hockey Team". This is quite unusual as it was normally generic for a myriad of sports. Features their freshman year of "1915" across the front and original James W. Brine Company tag in tail. Fresh to the hobby, it was originally discovered with other period Harvard memorabilia by the same consignor who owns the Yale sweater in this same sale. Lightning does strike twice in the same place.
Sweaters that are definitively hockey are few and far between. In fact, some years ago we sold a similar Dartmouth sweater with a hockey crest at auction for over $10,000.
