Friesell began working as a referee in 1922 and officiated 575 college and professional games. He is mostly remembered for an incorrect call he made at the 1940 Cornell-Dartmouth game when he accidentally gave Cornell an extra down, allowing the "Big Red" to score the winning touchdown. Offered is this unique referee jersey that came from Red Friesell's personal collection. Classic black and white stripes, this button down long sleeve presents very well and the black has only faded slightly. On the bottom of the front tail, you'll find the numbers "4 297 15 3" printed in the white, most likely a manufacturers number.
