Sammy Baugh led the Washington Redskins to winning the NFL Championship in 1937 and 1942 and was named NFL Player of the Year by the Washington D.C. Touchdown Club in 1947 and 1948. In both of his Player of the Year seasons, he led the league in completions, attempts, completion percentage, and yards. From his playing days comes this 100% all original 1940s Washington Redskins team-issued jacket. Worn on the sidelines by Baugh during games, this heavy-duty zipper front jacket is simply beautiful. The Indian logo on the left breast is sewn on in felt as are the words, “Washington Redskins” that surround the colorful logo.  The two waist height pockets are leather bound in contrasting light colored leather, are amazingly soft and still contain a slightly used "Smokers Cough" matchbook presumably owned by Gaugh.  Upon closer inspection you’ll notice the original tag in the collar is intact and quite fragile, but the heavily faded machine typed “BAUGH” can still be read.

The rarity of Baugh game used jerseys is well-known. With only a few known to exist, all in private collections and an estimated value of $150,000, this jacket is the next best thing and possibly more rare. Originally offered by Lelands in 1995 as part of the Sammy Baugh collection, this jacket was obtained directly from Baugh and comes with his signed 1995 Letter of Authenticity stating that it was from his personal collection and indeed game worn by him.
