The breaking of baseball’s color line did not happen in Brooklyn. The prenatal event occurred on April 18, 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey. To be more specific, at Roosevelt Stadium, home of the Jersey City Giants. The Montreal Royals debuted Mr. Robinson in no better place for Jackie to get his first real test. He came through in the clutch, hitting a dramatic three run homer which will forever be known as the “Shot Heard Round the Hudson”. New teammate George "Shotgun" Shuba, ran over from the on-deck circle to welcome his new teammate with an epic handshake.

The Ebbets Field version of this ticket recently bought $28,800 at auction. Not only is this ticket rarer, it is arguably more important.
