Outstanding quality baseball uniform from the The Jackson Heights Chicks, a girls' team in the vanguard of girls' baseball. In the 1940s it was very unusual for girls to play baseball, and even more unusual for girls teams to play boys teams - which is what the Chicks sometimes did.
A news article from the Seafarers News, included with the lot, explains that the uniforms were gifted to the Chicks from the crew of the cruise liner Puerto Rico. Also included is a 8x10" Black and White photo with excellent contrast and clarity showing nine members of the Chicks in their new uniforms.
The uniform, which appears almost new, with a few signs of wear, consists of shirt and pants in white with blue trim and a pair of long blue socks.
