Brass and enamel, with a brass Joe DiMaggio centerpiece showing his classic extended batting follow-through imposed over a brass baseball which is centered over a baseball diamond. Inscribed,"1839 1939 baseball Centennial". Aside from the centerpiece and lettering, the pin is in vibrant red, white and blue. The pin commemorates the supposed origin of baseball in Cooperstown, and coincides with the opening of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum there on June 12, 1939. At this 1939 Centennial was a monumental group of baseball immortals - All the living Hall of Famers at this time: Pete Alexander, Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, Connie Mack, Babe Ruth, George Sisler, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner, and Cy Young.
