1916-22 Hillerich and Bradsby pre model Dick Lundy professional model game used un-cracked bat; during a span in which he played for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants, Brooklyn Royal Giants Philadelphia Hilldale Club and the New York Bacharach Giants. Lundy was the best Negro League shortstop of the 1920's, bridging the time gap between John Henry Lloyd and Willie Wells and being considered to be up there with those two as the greatest shortstops in black baseball history. There are visible ball marks on the back barrel and there is a light coat of pine tar on the handle. According to the PSA letter: "With only the 'Lundy' appearing on the barrel in block letters, we have reviewed baseball records and can confirm the only player with the last name 'Lundy' was Dick Lundy". The labeling period is defined by the center brand, and according to Vince Malta's "A Complete Reference Guide Louisville Slugger Professional Player Bats" the bat displays a C-3A center brand that appeared on Louisville Slugger professional bats from 1916 to 1922. Lundy spent his career playing in the various Negro Leagues, mostly with the Giants, Lundy is known as one of the best Negro League players of all-time and even finished off a 20+ career with a batting average of .305. Comes with PSA GU 8 letter and sources from the private collection of the President to the Negro Leagues Players Association, Richard Berg.
