A sister jacket to a nearly identical one offered in this auction, this item is the Cincinnati Royals version of the NBA 50 Greatest Players jacket presented to Oscar Robertson in 1997. Robertson, who was a key contributor to both the Royals and Milwaukee Bucks franchises, was additionally given a Bucks jacket that is also a part of this auction. The NBA commissioned the creation of these 50 jackets (51 because of Robertson's two) to honor their 50 greatest players. The jackets were presented to the honorees during the festivities leading up to the 1996-97 All-Star Game, and a famous photo exists of the 49 surviving members posing with them on. The jackets are custom leather made by Jeff Hamilton, whose crest can be found on the left sleeve. The blue and white jacket has an "NBA 50" patch on the left breast and Robertson's number "14" on the right sleeve, as well as "ROYALS" on the back. The Jeff Hamilton logo can again be found inside the color with an XXL tag underneath. The jackets were made only for players, and as such are extremely difficult to obtain. Nate "Tiny" Archibald's made its way to the market a few years ago and sold for almost $6,000. Robertson is arguably a player of greater stature and the jacket is NM.
