One of only two we have ever seen, this vintage poster promotes a titanic showdown between Babe Ruth's Boston Braves and Dizzy Dean's St. Louis Cardinals at Sportsman's Park in 1935. Ruth, now in the twilight of his carer, was more sideshow than main attraction. Though he could still hit the ball a mile, his fitness had deteriorated to the point that he could do little else, and to compound the problem he was lured to the Braves under false pretenses. Dean, meanwhile, was in the prime of his career. He had won the NL MVP Award the previous year, and would finish second in the voting in 1935. This paper poster features Ruth and Dean on opposing sides with daffy font reading "Sunday May 19" between the two in Cardinals red. It was produced by the Cardinals Ticket Office and on the bottom reads "See Your Local Railroad Agent for Fares and Train Schedules." There are a couple of folds but otherwise is EX-MT with perfect colors. It measures 18x8".
