Offered is one of the most significant tobacco advertising displays ever created, the 1911 Turkish Trophies premium multi-product point of purchase display. In one of the first ever trading card (there were other premiums other than baseball players) redemption programs, Helmar and Turkish Trophy cigarettes sent a lucky collector a premium in exchange for 50 coupons inserted into packages of the cigarettes. This 16.5x33.5" display is in tremendous condition complete with an L1 Leather of Rube Marquard, a T3 card of Cy Young and an S81 Silk of Joe Tinker. Since these displays were random, and the tobacco companies wanted to advertise all their different types of premiums, it is extremely rare to find one of these displays featuring all baseball subjects - with all three being Hall of Famers. The top section features an L1 Leather of Rube Marquard with the usual "faults" including holes on each tip. This is bookended by two remarkable pieces, actual coupons used for redemption. These 4x6" coupons are partially obscured by the leather and have the usual folds, otherwise Excellent. Both bottom premiums present very well, with the Young having pinholes in each corner, while the Tinker S81 silk presents as EX/MT with small amounts of fraying on both top and bottom edges. The middle section promotes both the Helmar and Turkish Trophies, with some moderate staining. Overall this piece represents an era without bright neon lights and moving parts attracting the customer to the product. It was the product which sold itself when these premiums were issued, with these premiums and this advertising display being the most attractive and influential pieces ever produced.
