Complete unopened cello box of 1962 Topps First Series baseball cards, containing thirty-six original unopened 10-cent cello packs. Each cello pack houses twelve cards, for a total of 432 completely sealed, almost all potentially Gem Mint 10 baseball cards. Each pack also contains one of the very popular 1962 Topps Stamps to add to the dramatic graphic appeal of the packs themselves. The truly remarkable thing about this box is the number of important cards that are showing either on top or bottom of the cello packs. According to the accompanying letter of authenticity from highly regarded unopened experts BBCE, the packs are in overall NM-MT condition. Plus, according to a not often seen accompanying letter of authenticity (only done for the most important pieces) from BBCE proprietor Steve Hart of BBCE. In addition to the unbelievable condition these packs are in, 32 of the 36 packs have a Hall of Famer, star player, leader card or a combination of both (front AND back of their same pack!). The 1962 Topps baseball set with its earthy wood grain borders is among the most popular sets of the sixties. Furthermore, the first series, as was the norm with Topps, includes many of the game's greatest players at the time or ever. Lurking inside are such treasures as #5 Sandy Koufax, 10 Roberto Clemente, 18 Mantle/Mays, 25 Ernie Banks, 30 Eddie Mathews, 40 Orlando Cepeda, 50 Stan Musial, 70 Harmon Killebrew, 100 Warren Spahn plus the #1 card of Roger Maris, who had broken the season home run record the year before. In addition, there are a Mickey Mantle leader card and the cultish Boog Powell Rookie. The colorfully attractive display box has survived in uncannily outstanding condition, with only light shelf wear to reveal its true age. The real key here is the literal explosion of interest in unopened material in the last year or so. The intense excitement and allure of what could be inside has driven collectors and investors to greater and greater heights. As this is the only known example of this box, it should perform admirably.
