A marvelous creation made for a worthy fan, this full-color watercolor on artist's board is one of the few color Mullins you will ever see. Spectacular image of explosive Brooklyn Dodger bum arguing with a most casual umpire. An unusual full-color watercolor by the Dean of Sports Cartoonists. Willard Mullin will be forever remembered for creating his beloved, bedraggled "Brooklyn Bum" in 1937, a personification of the Dodgers baseball team and its long-suffering fan base. One day his cab driver asked, "How did our bums do today?" and thus he was born. Professionally framed to 20x19.5", the drawing measures 7x6". The personification of the hapless Dodgers and the pursuit of overcoming of Goliath by these baseball Sampsons. Only about five full-color Bums have been seen by us in six decades in the trade.
