This spectacular offering is one of only two Sandy Koufax rookie jerseys known to exist, this being the highest graded with a near-perfect score from MEARS of 9.5. Not only a rookie jersey, but it is also from the Dodgers World Championship year of 1955 - the most memorable of all years in Dodgers history. Just 19 years old, Koufax made 12 appearances for Brooklyn that season, posting a 2-2 record with a solid 3.02 ERA. The Dodgers were dominant in winning the NL pennant, and their 7-game World Series victory over the Yankees brought their first and only championship to the borough. Koufax would go on to a Hall of Fame career, which included three Cy Young Awards and four no-hitters among his many accolades. The gray, road jersey is all original with classic "Dodgers" in script on front in blue felt, "32" and on the back in the same blue felt. Rawlings size 44 tagging is in the collar, with "Koufax" stitched on the front tail, and inside the front tail are washing instructions and "Set 1 1955" flag tag. Showing nice use, only one half point was deducted by MEARS for a few small moth holes on the back of the collar and below the name on the front tail. Displaying amazing provenance, it was obtained directly from Koufax during 1957 spring training by a AAA minor league player who was training with the Dodgers, and incredible photomatch with button placement and lip over top button.
