Offered is an 1889 Duke & Sons premium album, titled "The Terrors of America." This approximately 10.5x7" album features the images in the N136 card set of the same name which features various children in states of "terror" including several with baseball themes, while the front cover also contains a baseball image of a young pitcher. In the 1880s, tobacco companies offered special albums available only by mail in exchange for coupons which were inserted into packs of tobacco, one coupon per pack. These premium albums featured images of all of the subjects distributed in a given set, along with extensively detailed background artwork. These highly sought-after souvenir albums were the top prizes offered by the tobacco companies. The few albums featuring baseball players are the most popular and desirable. This copy appears in Excellent overall condition, but does contain a heavy crease tear on the back cover. The cover is fully intact, and technically would grade GOOD. Considering the age of this baseball relic, and the back cover location of the tear, this premium album still displays beautifully.
