One of the original members of the Steel Curtain, Dwight White was the right defensive end for one of the NFL’s most storied defensive lines, a unit that also included Ernie Holmes, Joe Greene, and L.C. Greenwood. This black, home Steelers specimen is the only White jersey that we have seen and is an example to die for, all-original and it is just pounded with use. His number “78” is in white numbers on the front, back and both shoulders, “WHITE” is in yellow lettering sewn on a plate on the back with Sand-Knit size 52 tag on the front tail and Exclusive Pittsburgh Steelers tag and “73” year tag. At least 28 team repairs including one on the “7” on the back and two on the “8” on the front speak to the hand-to-hand battles on the defensive line and give this gem tremendous character. Not to mention the repairs helped us make numerous photomatches including the one shown. We can definitively match the repairs on the left sleeve and the dip on the front “8”. In a career that covered 1971-80, White was a part of Steelers teams that won four Super Bowls over a six-season span, and he was voted to the Pro Bowl twice.
