From the early days of his rising stardom, this incredible letter was written entirely in the hand of Muhammad Ali. Dated August 31, 1963, it reads, "To Whom it may concern: This letter is to empower my accountant, Seymour Weiss, the bearer, to secure such information as he may need on my behalf from the syndicate, or others who may have any such information concerning my personal and/or business affairs. Cassius M. Clay Jr." Note that in the letter, he originally wrote "personal" twice, and the second is crossed out with "business" written above it. This particular signature is a very rare one, and he has again printed his full name directly below it. Signature and writing are in 8/10 blue pen, the letter itself has a chip at the right side and also a tape stain with a strip of transparent tape on the verso. The lot comes with six additional pages of information regarding his 1963 earnings and taxes, and it is interesting to note that The Louisville Sponsoring Group, Clay-Jones fight and Clay-Cooper fight are mentioned. Comes with JSA LOA.
