Established in 1837, the group 1 Prix du Cadran is France’s most premier race for stayers (long distance specialists) and annually contested at a distance of 2 1/2 miles. Such an important event, it’s featured on the same card as the Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France - widely considered the most prestigious championship day in the world. In 1962 and 1963, Taine became just the third horse to win this race in succession (5th overall) thus establishing himself as one of the best stayers in the world. This horseshoe was worn by Taine in both his wins of the Prix du Cadran (1962-1963). The horseshoe is mounted on a silver dish stamped “Hermes Paris” and features the maker’s mark of Louis Ravinet & Charles Denfert and Minerva hallmark.
