One of the more intriguing figures in baseball history - in spite of an unspectacular playing career - this lot only adds to the intrigue surrounding Moe Berg. While it's acknowledged that Berg was a spy after his playing career, speculation remains rampant that he was already employed as such during his baseball-related tours of Japan in the mid-1930s. This lot is a handwritten 24-page letter from Berg to friend "Ted" on February 2, 1959. Ted was married to a woman named Mary, and Ted fell in love with another woman. On page 3, Berg writes, "She told me about Carol, the lesbian (married)." The letter is Berg describing to Ted how Mary took the news when he told her. Handwritten in ballpoint pen, it is signed, "Moe" at the end. Each page comes with a full JSA LOA. PSA/DNA LOA included for the letter as a whole.
