This hard-to-find piece is a Civil War issued sword with scabbard. The blade measures 35", while the whole piece is 43" including hilt and scabbard. The blade is somewhat tarnished but in great condition save for one noticeable nick, and the scabbard has two loop hangers and is equally well-preserved. The hilt is brass as is the knuckle guard, which is not found on all models of this era, possibly indicating that this is an officer's model. It weighs a solid 59 ounces, a classic artifact.
