An antique beauty, this large decorative French rococo revival mantel clock dates from the 1870s, surmounted with a horse and jockey. It features detailed, almost gaudy, ornate metal work in gilt with a porcelain face. Typical of this artistic movement, it used light colors, asymmetrical designs, curves, and lots of gold. This elegant piece is complete, shows almost no wear, and is in excellent working order and condition, although it is missing the crystal. A jockey sits upon the striding horse, executed with superb detail down to a thin set of reigns. The back has an open-style case in which you can view the inner workings of the clock mechanism. This clock will dominate even the most elegant of living rooms as it measures almost 14.5" high.
