The culture of America and, indeed, the world, changed in 1953 when Hugh Hefner published the first issue of Playboy. No doubt that the first issue was key to his success and in a very shrewd move he got the pin-up symbol of American beauty, Marilyn Monroe, to grace the cover and, more importantly, pose nude in photographs that remain as famous as ever over 50 years later. The magazine has become more and more difficult to find over the years, and the nude centerfold of Marilyn is intact and very nice. There's light discoloration on the cover and back cover, a torn page, and light water damage by the binding, it rates in GD-VG condition.
