Three oversized full sheet (unfolded programs) each measuring an average of 8x12.5" and all have full stone color lithograph illustrations featuring a beautiful image of the Coney Island Jockey Club interspersed with horse imagery. All are extremely rare, historically important and greatly prized by collectors. The first program presents the 1894 Ocean Handicap with Domino the winner. Next, the 1894 Futurity Stakes was won by the 2-yo champion filly that year and following year’s female champion, Butterflies. However, the star that day was Henry of Navarre who won the Dolphin Stakes. Both Domino (1893) and Henry of Navarre (1894, 1895) were Horse of the Year designees. The third program shows Clifford victorious in the 1894 Flight Stakes. All three stars are in Racing’s Hall of Fame. Domino and Henry of Navarre finished in a dead heat in a match race on September 15, and on September 22, Clifford beat Henry of Navarre by a head in another match. The three great horses were brought together at Morris Park on October 6, in a special race to determine the 1894 championship. Henry won as the 4-1 outsider with favored Domino third. The museum-quality programs have tanned somewhat with age but are all firm and in great condition ranging from EX-NRMT.
