August Belmont ran Gray Planet against time establishing the FASTEST MILE ON RECORD. 6) 1873: 5th day, 8/2 - John Hunter & William Travers won the first, Belmont won The Sequel Stakes & in last race Hubbard won,defeating Harry Bassett. 7) 1873: Light blue, no date. 8) 1873: Light green, no date. 9) 1874: 1st day, 8/8 - Chesapeake, a favorite for next year's Derby, won the Kentucky Stakes, and Survivor (won last year's inaugural Preakness) ran 4th in the summer handicap. 10) 1874: 2nd meeting, no date. 11) 1874: 8/22 Benefit of the School Fund. The two races on the flat were won by jockeys weighing 87 and 83 pounds. The hurdle race took three heats and it was extremely rare then for cash payments to be paid for finishing in third.
