From a powerful period in the great career of Joseph Paul DiMaggio. Labeling dates it from the 1946-48 era, which included a third MVP and another World Championship (1947) and another great year in 1948 with an impressive .315 batting average while gracefully patrolling center field the entire era. Magnificent uncracked bat is a thing of beauty. The Hillerich & Bradsby specimen does not have a model number on the barrel. Measuring 36" and weighing 33.4 ounces makes it custom perfect for the Yankee Clipper. The bat shows exceptional use with both multiple ball and spike marks on the barrel. The back of the barrel has been restored by a highly skilled professional and the restoration is not noticeable to the naked eye. Comes with an LOA from highly respected bat expert John Taube of PSA.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This bat came directly from the collection of fellow Yankee George "Snuffy" Stirnweiss. It was on display in his New Jersey home along with the bat of Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra, also in this auction.
