From Yogi Berra's first full season in the majors, this extremely rare Hillerich and Bradsby model R43 bat has been masterfully restored and looks as good as new. Measuring 35" and weighing 32.8 ounces, the bat shows nice use with ball marks on the right side of the barrel, which has been impeccably replaced to the point of which it is unnoticeable. Berra batted .280 in 1947 and helped the Yankees to another World Series championship over the crosstown rival Dodgers. This is a genuine rookie artifact from one of the game's most iconic players, with "BERRA" in block letters on the barrel. It is uncracked and comes with PSA LOA.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This bat came directly from the collection of Yankee teammate George "Snuffy" Stirnweiss. It was on display in his New Jersey home along with the matching bat of Joe DiMaggio, also in this auction.
