This single signed baseball is fascinatingly morbid in that it is the last baseball ever signed by Williard Hershberger before he committed suicide on August 3, 1940, in his Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. If only he had known that the Reds went on to win the 1940 World Series maybe he wouldn't have done it. The baseball comes with a letter from the recipient who says he caught a foul ball hit by Bill Jurges of the Giants and he had his favorite player Willard Hershberger sign it in person. He also said that while he was signing it "another Reds player bumped his arm causing him to rewrite the first part of his last name." Condition is EX.
