It has only happened nine times in major league history - a game ending on a triple play. The fifth occasion occurred on May 30, 1967, at Crosley Field as the Reds held off the Cardinals 2-1 thanks to Phil Gagliano hitting into a 6-4-3-2 triple play. This is the actual baseball used to perform that extremely rare baseball feat. It is an official National League (Giles) baseball that shows nice use and comes with a letter from former Reds visiting clubhouse attendant, Richard Cox, who was given the baseball by Reds coach Whitey Whitelmann at the end of the game. On one panel in vintage pen is the notation: "May 30, 1967, Triple Play Ball, Cardenas to Helms to Johnson to Edwards, 9th Inning, Reds Won Over Cards 2-1." The ball is signed by Leo Cardenas.
