On May 6, 1982, veteran spitballer Gaylord Perry became just the 15th pitcher to win 300 games, and the first in 19 years to do so following Early Wynn. Playing for his fifth team in four years, the "Ancient Mariner," as he was called, went the distance for the 297th time, defeating the Yankees 7-3 at the Kingdome. This official American League (MacPhail) baseball from that milestone game shows nice use and was saved by Perry. On a side panel, it is signed and notated by Perry in blue felt tip: "Best Wishes, Gaylord Perry #300 5-6-82."
