Featherweight Champion of California Danny LaVerne was working on Pearl Harbor when he was shot and killed in the attack. This trunk of his contains a treasure trove of his own memorabilia: 1) 1930 amateur years scrapbook including four Paddy Ryan's Gym Membership cards all signed by him, 1936 fight contract signed by LaVerne, secretarial LaVerne and Joe Vidal, two boxing permits and many photos, clippings and tickets. It's unclear which autographs are his, as we leave it up to you. 2) 1942 document to have his remains interred from "Honolulu" (Pearl Harbor). 3) Large scrapbook as Featherweight Champ of Ca., many boxing clips, inscribed signed photo of Atilio Sabatino, 1939 ticket vs. Young Gildo, 1940 unused ticket vs. Al Brown (Australia), awesome "Murder Committed" handbill vs. Clever Henry and lots of his handwriting. 4) Pearl Harbor Scrapbook with all photos mounted with four-corner mounts. Photos include LaVerne riding round with other fighters in "jazz" painted jalopy. There's also a 1941 program vs. Henry and Joe Herman signed photo. 5) A great boxing scrapbook with dozens of photos of LaVerne carousing with other boxers around the world. 6) Lots of other individual photos, boxing promo prints of Danny (10), great shot of Danny in decorative frame and signed photo to Danny by Max Baer. There are well over 200 photos in this historically important collection, but the tragedy leaves us wondering how many more memories could have been chronicled.
