This rare San Francisco 49ers style was worn during the 1954 season, the "Golden Era" of 49ers football, as quarterback Arnie Galiffa wore #16 before there ever was a Joe Montana. This brilliant red medium-weight home jersey is made of stretch cotton with white sleeve accents with #16 sewn on the front and back. A "Wilson" manufacturers tag, correct for the period, is on the front tail and has a adjacent size "48" flag tag. The jersey has been well preserved, with evident usage, including a pair of small team repairs on the back. This is an extraordinary rare example and one of the only specimens of this style 49ers jersey since the period. Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Galiffa granddaughter and was initially part of the Michael Cupon Collection. In EX condition, plus, comes with his 1954 Bowman card graded PSA 8 showing him wearing a similar jersey, if not "the" one.
