A fascinating piece, this is a politically-charged scorecard acting as a petition to GM Charlie Gehringer and the Detroit Tigers. Made especially for Independence Day (1952), it has great patriotic graphics and lineups for Chicago White Sox versus Detroit Tigers. It protests that there are no black players on the Tigers and lists 26 players appropriate for promotion: Vic Power, Junior "William" (Gilliam sic), Sandy Amoros, Joe Black and more. Verso is an "Open Letter" that enraged fans were meant to sign and send to Gehringer, though most were cut up and discarded. Issued by the Michigan Labor Youth League ("Labor" is perhaps a McCarthy-era catchword for Communist.), this supposedly "subversive" organization headed by liberal Jew Mark Solomon was blacklisted by the House Un-American Activities Committee. In NRMT condition and only one we have ever seen, a truly "American" piece despite the political climate.
