Offered here is a spectacular work by Ernest Hamlin Baker commissioned in 1953 as a proposed cover for TIME. Included in this lot is a one-of-a-kind proof cover created for this proposed subject - he made it to the cover of LIFE Magazine instead. This stage and screen idol famous for his brooding portrayals is shown in his tour de force, Julius Caesar. Brando earned four Oscar nominations, yet refused the Best Actor Oscar for The Godfather. Special gouache on artist’s board is archivally framed to 19" x 23" overall, and the proof itself is 8" x 10.75" and archivally matted to 16.5" x 17.75" overall.
