It was billed as the Match Race of the Century and it didn't disappoint as the valiant Seabiscuit outdueled War Admiral on just another Tuesday afternoon in Maryland. On November 1, 1938, Seabiscuit not only conquered War Admiral but left the son of Man o’ War in the dirt and dust of Pimlico. This is a winning combination of both the official "programme" and souvenir program from that fabled race. The Autumn Meeting programme, which measures slightly less than 4x9", has notes scribbled in pencil, a crease in the upper-third and some small tears on the edges but is otherwise VG-EX. The 10x13" souvenir program is 44 pages in length and in VG condition with light creasing on the corners of the front cover and along the outside binding. There is some staining on the pages and some small tears inside. The cover features a bright, vivid depiction of the Pimlico Clubhouse and the two stars of the race. There are detailed write-ups on the participants, as well as articles on the Maryland Jockey Club and Pimlico.
