Art Shamsky was a member of the 1969 Amazin' Mets and is the subject of this beautifully framed pastel by famed sports artist LeRoy Neiman. Titled "Of and For Art Shamsky," it measures roughly 26" x 33" in its frame and is signed in pencil in the lower right. A master expressionist, Neiman executed with great color the spectre of Shamsky at bat in his Mets uniform. The outfielder - who holds the major record for homering three times in a game he didn't start - batted .300 for the Mets during their first World Series season, when they stunned the world by knocking off the heavily-favored Baltimore Orioles in a five-game World Series.
