Preakness saddle cloths worn by the same year's Kentucky Derby champion are almost never available to the general public, especially considering the resume of this particular champ, whose victory over the likes of Point Given in the 2001 Derby was accomplished in the second-fastest time in the 139-year history of the "Run for the Roses." The winner of the Grade 1 Florida Derby, Monarchos ran only 10 times before being retired to stud (winning four times), making this orange, black-bordered saddle cloth relatively scarce. Measuring 42" x 36", the cloth features "PREAKNESS" stitched in black and white, and both the horse's name and number 7 stitched in black. Monarchos' winning Derby time was 1:59.97, second only to legendary 1973 Triple Crown winner Secretariat, who ran 1:59 25 .
