The first-ever draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and first player inducted into that franchise's Ring of Honor in, 2009, Lee Roy Selmon made his mark as both a collegiate (Oklahoma) and pro player as a defensive end. This Ridell helmet from that brutal first season of Tampa Bay football shows extensive use, and the outline of Selmon's #63 can be seen on the reverse where his number was. The face mask is identical to photos. Selmon, who won the Lombardi Award and the Outland Trophy in 1975, became the first-ever pick for the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His number was retired in 1986 and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Buccaneers were a terrible team at the outset, dropping their first 26 games before defeating the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Cardinals in the last two weeks of their second season, leading to the firing of both those teams' coaches - Hank Stram and Don Coryell. Selmon played all nine of his pro seasons with Tampa Bay and was a six-time Pro Bowler. In 1979, he was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year. He died two years ago at the age of 56.
