Picture Connie Mack, incidentally the longest-serving manager in Major League Baseball history, sitting at his desk, writing checks for the Philadelphia Athletics. You can pour through this ledger and see more than 10 years of his club's expenses, from $25 to James R. Kirk for "600 3 cent stamps, 275 1 cent postcards, 225 envelopes and 20 10 cent stamps" on June 16, 1949 through September 27, 1960 - a $300 check to (the same?) "J. R. Kirk for "1960 Expenses." Checks 100 through 342 are stubs only - most with notes - while 346 through 597 are unwritten. the book is in VG condition -the navy blue cover is embossed with "Liberty Title and Trust Co. Founded 1885."
