These two photos depict the homes built by resourceful Native Americans living in Arizona during the 1870s. One depicts a complex stick-and-mud home that is identified as "House of the Capitan of Shung-a-pah-y". The second photo shows stone steps, pottery and what appears to be a ladder in the foreground, and a sizable arid plateau topped with what appear to be buildings in the distance, identified as "Moo-sha-neh from She-paul-a-wee" by the photographer. The photos are numbered 302 and 300, respectively, and both have "Arizona" written in pencil on their backing. Photo 300, depicting the plateau, has a large horizontal crease, but otherwise both are in EX condition.
