This beautifully carved walking stick was the authentic cane used by Cy Young after he moved back to Ohio in the early 1930’s. He lived with the Benedum family in Peoli (Newcomerstown), Ohio until his death in 1955. The LOA comes from the daughter of the Benedum’s who was close with Young and refers to him as her grandfather. The walking stick is carved out of wood and the handle is the body of a seal with stone eyes that are still affixed to the cane. Also included in the lot is a vintage 1955 photograph that captures Cy Young using the cane. This is a great personal item from Cy Young and has remained in the possession of the Benedum family since his death more than a half century ago.
