<i>Steinbrenner</i> - the name alone conjures up all things Yankees for the last four decades, and brings to mind a demanding, difficult, ambitious, not always pleasant, but undeniably successful persona. As owner of the fabled ball club, George Steinbrenner has overseen 10 pennant titles and 6 World Series titles. This group of signed items has an interesting variety: 1) a single-signed Official Major League (Selig) baseball, sweet-spotted and rated at 8.5/10; 2) a Newsday Yankee insert titled “A Century of Seasons” and dated April 6, 2003, with light blue markered signature at 9/10; 3) a color 8x10” portrait of The Boss standing in front of Babe Ruth dedication, signed in silver pen (9.5/10), “Best Wishes, from the Yankees, George Steinbrenner” (with faint traces of personalization now erased); and lastly, 4) a replica Derek Jeter jersey, signed by Steinbrenner in blue sharpie just below “NY” logo on chest, rated at 9.5/10, with Majestic manufacturer’s tag on front tail and price tags still connected.
