Filmed in 1959 and 1960, at the height of baseball's post-World War II renaissance, "Home Run Derby" was a popular series that operated on a simple equation: match AL sluggers against their NL counterparts and let them swing away to the delight of the viewers at home. Offered now are two of the balls used in play during filming which were signed by the day's participants. The first ONL (Giles) ball is signed in blue ballpoint by Mays (7/10), Killebrew (7/10), Podres (5/10-due to fading), Labine (5/10-due to fading), and Bob Allison (7/10). The second ONL (Giles) specimen is again signed by Mays, in addition to Gil Hodges, and Jim Lemmon. Each of their blue ink sigs. grade 7.5/10. Both balls show moderate use with expected toning.
