Like some sublime image from a dream, this Kieser and Michel concert poster for a German performance (circa late1950’s) by Ella Fitzgerald and the Oscar Peterson Trio, is achingly beautiful. A dominant, melancholic blue overwhelms the whole 33 x 46 ?” poster, most of which is the face of Ella Fitzgerald, held in a beatific expression. Above her rapt face is printed in large white lettering, “Norman Granz presents…", with white square blocks placed among the rest of the German words, as if some sort of governmental censoring was applied. Stylistic, passionate and gorgeous. Minor tears, o/w NRMT.
