Delicate wonder, this indigo blue, game-worn soft-brimmed cap from New York Yankee legend Frank Crosetti. In the 1930’s, Frankie must have liked this one as it shows at least a season's worth of use. A rare find, the American League All-Star of 1936 and 1939, may have donned this in any one of the five World Series he participated in as short stop in the 1930’s. He was fast at stealing bases, and just as quick thieving signs. This beautiful relic has many rich details, including a leather band inside, all intact, with “7 1/8 F. Crosetti" embroidered into it. The “NY” on front of cap is clearly visible, though some of the white stitching has disappeared from time and use. An interesting touch is a team-repair with thread on front, left above the brim. Made by Spalding, the leather tag remains on the back inside. The felt has come off of the metal button on top of the cap, as has all metal rings on all six holes encircling button. A superb piece from one of the heights of the Yankee dynasty.
