A lively 1917 photograph of Hall-of-Famer Frank “Home Run” Baker during his tour with the New York Yankees (1916 - 1922). Pencil notations on back include “Held Out 1920 Season”, after he walloped 10 big ones in 1919, and drove in 83. These were huge amounts in the days before The Bambino took hold and smashed every record in the book. His 96 career home runs were actually quite a remarkable achievement in the dead ball era. This 4 x 6” photo, an exceptional image, has a Culver Pictures stamp on the reverse. The photo has a small chip off the border at the lower left corner, and a very minor tear on the right margin, but is otherwise in Excellent condition.
