From the estate of baseball great Honus Wagner, here’s one rare look at three sides of The Flying Dutchman. He was born and he died in the same place...Carnegie, Pennsylvania. One postcard is addressed in pencil to him in Carnegie and has the original 1912 postmark over the penny postcard stamp. The card shows a posed “boxing-style” shot of Honus and an opponent. Wagner is pretending to throw a punch in another postcard taken on the Chicago Express rail car. The back of this card has The Orpheum Photograph Studio logo on it. A third card is a colorized photo of Wagner and a group of boys, captioned “ ‘Hans’ Wagner and his Young Recruits at Dawson Springs, Ky.” This NRMT collection has some smudges but is ready for framing. Each card measures 3 1/2 x 5”.
