A slightly shaky but historically profound Honus Wagner signature rests on this government postcard sent to Jim Davidson 4 years before the venerable Dutchman’s death in 1955, making this one of the last few markers given by the peerless, bow-legged HOF shortstop. Signature in blue ink is 9/10 while the postcard itself is EX. It is postmarked September 18, 1951 from Carnegie, PA, an across-the-diamond throw from where Wagner made his mark in the Steel City, where he was born and raised and developed his barrel chest working in the mines as a youngster. Postcard has a newspaper photo of an elderly Wagner as a Pirate coach, a position he held from 1933 until 1951.
