It's unfortunate that Ford Frick's legacy as baseball commissioner will go down with an asterisk -- the bone he wanted to put in front of Roger Maris' name when Maris broke Babe Ruth's single-season home run record in 1961. Frick, a former sportswriter, had been a friend and ghostwriter for the Babe. Still, Frick, who was also NL President from 1934-51, oversaw a tremendous expansion of the game during his tenure. His signature is on this 3.5 x 5.5" commemorative HOF postcard in the yellow border area above the plaque he earned in 1970. Signature in blue ink is 8/10 while the card itself is NRMT.
